    • Related posts brought to you by Yet Another Related Posts Plugin.]]>     State-owned Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Italian firm Selex Galileo and Astra Microwave Products of Hyderabad to initiate business in the area of electronic warfare besides other things like microwave products. BEL is principal manufacturer of electronic warfare equipment for the Indian Armed Forces.

    Selex Galileo is one of the leading manufacturers of electronic warfare products and a Finmeccanica group company. The venture between BEL and Selex Galileo becomes the base for all future requirements in design, development and manufacturing of microwave components.

    The MoU with Selex Galileo is part of the offset requirements of the Italian company and the contract manufacturing of electronic warfare products will be for the export market, according to the BEL officials. The MoU with Astra will enable BEL to enter into a joint venture with the Hyderabad-based company for design and manufacture of microwave components and assemblies. The microwave products are crucial parts of large systems like radars, EW systems, sonars and communication equipment which BEL manufactures.
