The Indian major corporate of the automotive sector, the TVS Group, has made a foray into the aerospace sector. The TVS Group with its companies like Lucas-TVS and Sundram Fasteners Limited (SFL) will now be supplying aerospace parts and other related components to international vendors.
Lucas-TVS has entered into a licensing partnership with an aerospace component vendor in the US and the UK to source the aerospace parts. Currently, Lucas- TVS is focusing on value addition on aerospace components and larger volumes in terms of business will inspire manufacturing the aerospace components. Lucas-TVS has already made its presence felt in the domestic sector by delivering aerospace components to the state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
On the other hand, the international major Airbus has earmarked the TVS Group company Sundram Fasteners Limited (SFL) for the supply of general aerospace fasteners for their aircraft SFL is expecting a request for quotation from Airbus soon. Airbus, through their sourcing wing, the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS N.V) has recently concluded their evaluation and audit of SFL products and manufacturing locations in Tamil Nadu. Once the Airbus order is finalized, SFL may set-up an auxiliary unit for the Airbus work.
