Wipro Infotech of India and GE Security of the United States forged a joint venture partnership on March 10 to jointly produce and market physical security solutions for Indian defence forces.
The joint venture agreement was signed in Bangalore by Wipro Infotech Senior Vice-President and Head India and Middle East Anand Sankaran and Mohamed Butt, President, GE Security Asia.
GE Security is a subsidiary of the U.S. based GE Enterprise Solutions.
Under the joint venture agreement, the two companies will build and deploy best-in-class physical security solutions for customers in India besides provide training and relevant case studies for GE’s security products and solutions to Wipro’s sales and re-sales staff.
Wipro Infotech has been providing information security solutions to government and enterprises in India. While GE Security has designed and developed security, safety and lifestyle enhancement products for intrusion and fire detection, access and building control and video surveillance.
“We are looking at improving physical security aspects for government, defence, SEZs, campuses, enterprises, hospitality sector and other sensitive installations”, said Sankaran.
“We are pleased with this relationship with Wipro as it brings together one of the leading system integrators in the world and a premier security company offering innovative technology solutions to help protect people, assets and communities. We are excited about the opportunity to work with Wipro and expand our security offerings in the Indian market,” announced Butt.
The two companies however, refused to divulge the financial and business plans of the joint venture. The joint venture company will operate out of Bangalore.
