Timco Aviation Services of the U.S and the state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) have initiated a joint venture which aims to develop comprehensive airframe MRO services to India and its neighbouring regions’ commercial air transport operators. Timco Aviation excels in the area of fully integrated MRO services for commercial and government aircraft operators.
The new venture will begin with the creation of an advanced facility at HAL’s airport and manufacturing facility in Bangalore. There will be heavy maintenance services for operators narrow-body Airbus and Boeing commercial planes besides scheduled C-checks.
Both the companies have enough expertise and focus to create a state-of-the-art MRO facility in India. HAL has about 20 production units and 10 research and design centers in seven locations across India. The company manufactures 12 types of aircraft developed indigenously and has produced another 14 under license. Its MRO capabilities support a wide range of military and civil fleet types, and cover everything from engine overhauls to state-of-the-art composite repairs.
As for Timco Aviation, it has another division called Timco Aerosystems through which the company provides fully integrated aircraft interior design, manufacturing, and certification services. In addition, the U.S firm has Timco’s Brice Seating Company designs, engineers, and produces a full line of aircraft seating and other related services. Timco also facilitates its clients with an engine MRO center and a line maintenance operation at airports throughout the U.S.
