Australia Targets Indian Defence Market

With the growing potential in the maritime defence and security of India, a trade delegation of Australia visited  India last week to  showcase capabilities in this area. The Australian delegation comprised of nine companies and conducted  talks with key government officials in the Defence Ministry, Coast Guard and Border Security Force.

Peter Linford, Senior Trade Commissioner (South Asia) for Australian Trade Commission indicated that Australia’s capability covers the entire maritime security spectrum with expertise in submarine systems development, integration and high-pressure hull fabrication, ship construction, modular fabrication, systems integration, platform integration, sub-system design and maintenance service. The Australian delegation will visit southern India of Kochi besides meeting and presentations in New Delhi.

The Australian companies are offering their expertise in high-speed pursuit vessels, specialised safety, combat and security equipment, and personal protective apparel including chemical splash protection suits. The companies also made presentations of satellite communications and software for management of search and rescue operations, aerial civil maritime surveillance systems, aero medical search and rescue services, defence logistics, unmanned aerial vehicles, and surge and transient protection equipment and earthing solutions.
