Indian Firm Forge JV With British Firm For Armoured Vehicles

The Indian private firm, Shri Lakshmi Cotsyn Limited (SLCL) has joined hands with the UK-based Armet Armoured Vehicles (AAV) to manufacture and assemble equipment for armoured vehicles. The joint venture will manufacture and supply high-end 360 degree armoured vehicles in India with bullet- mine and bomb-proof accessories including safety and security related equipment.

According to sources, the joint venture will aim to manufacture 300-400 vehicles a year and has been set up at a total cost of 400 million rupees. The company will import chassis from international firms like Ford Motor and General Motors and then fabricate indigenously at its plant. The facility will be set up near Kanpur.

The Indian firm SLCL is holding talks with the Indian paramilitary forces and other western countries for armouring vehicles with Level-7 protection including bomb-proof accessories.
